Stormwater ManagementStormwater management is one of the principal practice areas of GEA Engineering. GEA is highly qualified in the area of flood control and storm drainage. Personnel have experience in the investigation of dams, flood control studies and master plans, stormwater management plans, flood plain delineations and designs for stream improvements, storm sewers, dams and various types of flood control structures and appurtenances. Projects normally include hydrology, hydraulics, field surveys, structural design, preparation of plans and maps, construction cost estimates, reports and attendance at meetings with local officials and the public. Completed studies have included evaluation of existing facilities, analysis of improvement alternatives and development of recommended plans. GEA's engineering staff utilize computerized Hydraulic and Hydrologic Engineering Models including tidal and riverine hydraulic modeling, refraction and shoaling analysis, rainfall runoff simulation, open channel and pressure flow hydraulics, water distribution network programs, and storm drainage analysis; and other major hydraulic and hydrologic analysis packages from private organizations and governmental agencies. Stormwater management plans include the preparation of regional watershed studies for the development of area-wide stormwater quantity and quality mechanisms for the control of increased runoff and pollutants resulting from land development and redevelopment. Personnel have also performed site specific stormwater control plans at various industrial complexes involving stormwater sampling and analyses and the development of mitigation measures for the control of water quality during rainfall events. Design work includes preparation of detailed plans and specifications for stream improvements, dam construction and rehabilitations, storm sewers, bridges, culverts, stormwater detention facilities and pumping stations. GEA Engineers also have extensive experience in providing construction phase services, including shop drawing services and resident engineering. |
