Landfill Design & Hydrogelogic ServicesGEA maintains a specialized staff of Engineers, Hydrogeologists, Geologists and Solid Waste Management Professionals who provide comprehensive environmental services to a variety of clients. This group specializes in services such as solid waste management, design and construction management for new lined landfills, expansions and site closures, hydrogeologic and geologic site assessment and investigations, design and implementation of soil and ground-water remediation systems, landfill gas investigations, mitigation and energy recovery and compliance with permitting and reporting requirements. Professionals have formal academic training at the bachelors, masters and doctoral levels, with specialized training in environmental and geotechnical engineering, hydraulics, soil mechanics, geophysics, computer modelling for ground-water and contaminant migration, and ground-water resource assessment. Geologists and hydrogeologists include Registered Professional Geologists with one or more state and/or national organizations. Specific capabilities include site assessment procedures involving geophysical and geotechnical investigations, installation of soil borings and monitoring wells, aquifer characterization, and computer modelling of hydraulic and contaminant properties. Comprehensive services are available for landfill site evaluation, design development, preparation of plans and specifications, and construction management. In addition, GEA provides permitting preparation and review services including solidwaste landfill construction permits, Environmental Impact statements, ground-water diversion, NJPDES, NPDES, and other NYSDEC and NJDEPE permits. For clients with soil, ground-water, or surface water contamination, GEA provides innovative remedial action designs and workplans followed by construction management services. These hydrogeology/landfill design services have been employed on a wide range of projects, including hydrogeologic investigations, landfill gas studies, landfill closure designs, landfill siting investigations, sludge landfills, MSW landfills, C & D landfills, stormwater management at landfills, landfill grading plans and groundwater and surfacewater monitoring programs. In addition, GEA has provided environmental services required for projects involving waste water disposal, construction dewatering, leachate collection and treatment, air monitoring, odor control, groundwater pumping systems, and underground storage tanks. GEA provides comprehensive field investigations conducting groundwater sampling and physical characterizations of aquifers including pump and slug tests to assess hydraulic conductivity. In-field testing of groundwaters and surface waters is performed utilizing quality controlled monitoring equipment. Approved laboratories are utilized for analytical testing of chemical and biological parameters to provide legally defensible data with high integrity. Hydrogeological modelling capabilities include aquifer test design, boundary condition evaluation, numerical simulation, and adeptness with classic analytical models as well as computer automated analytical packages. GEA staff are experienced in the use of environmental field equipment including an EM-31 Terrain Conductivity meter, digital data loggers, Organic Vapor Analyzers and Hnu organic vapor survey meters.
