GEA conducted hydraulic studies and analysis as well as preparation of
engineering plans, specifications, and bid documents for stream rehabilitation,
environmental
restoration, bank stabilization and
channel improvements of the Minisceongo Creek in Haverstraw, New York for
Rockland County Drainage Agency. The project known as Contract 2 encompassed
designs for eight (8) sites including:·
Each design was conducted as a FEMA funded project in response to damages
caused by Tropical Storm Floyd.
The designs included excavation and removal of sediment and debris deposited
from Tropical Storm Floyd. In addition, store filling and replacement of rip rap
was designed for channel linings and stream embankments. Work included removal
of debris with cranes (Bridge Street) and replacement of sewer lines and
manholes at Rella Court.
Bank restoration included controlled structural filling, rip rap placement,
vegetation and slope stabilization with geosynthetic turf mats and geotextiles.
All projects were conducted using US Army Corps of Engineers
Nationwide Permits and NYS Department of Environmental Conservation joint water
quality certification permits.
